Introducing The Parent’s Guide to Trampolines

Buying a trampoline can be a pretty major purchase.

You need to think about trampoline safety, about cost, about whether you have enough space in your yard to put what amounts to a new structure.

With all of these things to think about, choosing the right one for your children can feel overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to feel that way.

Introducing The Parent’s Guide to Trampolines

Here are some basic considerations to keep in mind when making a trampoline purchase.

  1. As we mentioned above, buying a trampoline means thinking about space considerations. A trampoline will take up a lot of room on your property. You’ll need level ground and at least 24 feet of overhead clearance.

  2. What does “level ground” mean? Grass or a soft, prepared surface. Placing a trampoline on a hard surface like concrete or asphalt will cause damage over time.

  3. Give yourself horizontal clearance as well as vertical. Keep the trampoline at least six feet away from your home, any bushes or trees, your shed, the fence, etc.

  4. Never place anything under the trampoline.

  5. If you have children younger than 6, we do not recommend they use a trampoline that’s higher than 18 inches tall.

  6. The maximum recommended weight for anyone using a trampoline is 331 pounds. Overloading a trampoline past the recommended weight can cause damage.

At Swingset & Toy Warehouse, we’ve been selling trampolines long enough to know that buying one isn’t like buying other toys. We know all the different factors that can affect your decision, which is why we’ve created The Parent’s Guide to Trampolines.

Inside, you’ll find info on how trampolines are constructed and tips on trampoline safety, as well as details about our three main trampoline vendors: Springfree Trampolines, Allyoop Trampolines, and Jumpsport Trampolines.

A trampoline is an investment, but one that will yield hours of fun and give your kids plenty of exercise for years to come.
