You can have a lot of fun on a trampoline. But you can also use it to get a great workout…while still having fun.

Some of the benefits of trampoline fitness include:

Trampoline_Fitness.png1. A healthier heart

Whether you’re an elite athlete or someone who’s just starting to exercise, you can see a significant improvement in your cardiovascular health with a regular, 30-minute workout on your trampoline.

2. Stronger legs

Studies have shown that college students who do just 30 minutes of rebounding on a trampoline twice a week saw substantial increases in leg strength.

3. Better posture, balance and coordination

Using a trampoline can help improve your balance, posture and coordination by stimulating your inner ear canal and ocular nerve.

Regular trampoline use can help senior citizens recover their balance after a fall, according to a study conducted in Brazil in 2011.

Are you interested in trampoline fitness? Here are a few exercises to help you get started.

1. The Powerbounce

Start by sitting in the middle of the trampoline and popping up to a stranding position as fast as possible. Each time you stand, reach alternating arms across your body.

It’s a fantastic workout for your core. Or try this: start once again sitting in the middle of the trampoline, then lift your legs off the ground and contract your abs for 20 seconds, and release. Repeat three times.

2. Boy Jog Jumping on TrampolineThe Jumping Jog

Are you a fan of jogging, but scared that streets and sidewalks are hurting your knees? Try the jumping jog, which gives you all the benefits of running and jumping, without the stress of jogging in the street.

Once again, you’ll be starting at the center of the trampoline. Do a few light warm-ups jumps to help achieve balance. After you’ve gotten a good rhythm of jumps going, you can “jog” by landing on a different foot with each bounce, lifting each knee as high as possible with each step. Do this for three minutes, then wind down with a few gentler jumps.

Stand straight, arms at your side and jump in the air. As you jump, extend your legs sideways and straight, reaching your arms out to your toes. Land with your legs straight.

4. Seat drops

Start in a standing position, hands at your side. Jump in the air, move your legs forward and bounce on your bottom, legs out front and palms down.

Here’s one more exercise that begins with you standing up, arms at your side. Jump in the air and turn, facing in the opposite direction for a half twist, or do a complete 360-degree turn for a full twist.

We should point out – as we always do when we talk about trampolines – the importance of trampoline safety. Take a moment to review trampoline safety rules here.
